LONDON: JK: A Walk along the Thames River

I went for a casual 26 km stroll along the Thames. It started in Canary Wharf in the East and ended back in Earl's Court where we are staying. The photos are in chronological order.

Note: the clouds were a welcome relief. We've had a lot of hot, sunny days while we've been in London, believe it or not.

Starting in the Financial District - Canary Wharf

somebody has a nice little "run-about"

"since 1700's"

bingo hall

apartments springing up all along the banks of the Thames

damn structural engineers

 old warehouses converted to apartments

a set of locks to an inner canal

this street might be a bit intimidating at midnight

the River Police unit

I'm not loving all the architecture

Tower Bridge and the Shard

The site of the Tower of London

the old and the new

This white building is the Globe Theater, they specialize in "Shakespeare in the round""

The Tate Modern Art Gallery. You can cross the Thames on the Millenium foot bridge.

These sentinels mark the entrance to the City of London (the rest is technically Westminster)

The London Eye

Actually, the clock is Big Ben. The tower is called the Elizabeth Tower

The Parliament Buildings

The Tate Britain Art Gallery

The HQ for MI-6, the British Secret Service.
Watch some recent James Bond films to see it get blown up.

Incredibly high density housing (and I'm sure it's all pretty expensive)

Battersea Power Station (featured on the Pink Floyd "Animals" album cover)

Well preserved homes on the North Side of the Thames

Lots of permanently moored houseboats

Low tide
