COSTA RICA: Whale Watching in Uvita

The Marino Ballena National Park, in Uvita, is home to a biologically diverse marine habitat. Two types of humpback whales pass through Costa Rica. 

From late December to late February the northern hemisphere Humpback whales migrate from Alaska to Costa Rica's coast. 

From late July to early November the southern humpbacks migrate up from Antarctica.

They come to breed and raise their calves.

Because of this, Costa Rica has the longest humpback whale season in the world.  

COSTA RICA: Tamarindo's Green Sea Turtles and Instinct

Tamarindo has protected beaches where instinct drives green sea turtles to come back to the exact same beach where they were born, 15 years earlier, to lay their eggs. 

With an accredited guide, visitors can come at night to witness nature and instinct come together. 

(Only red flashlights are used as turtles are not affected by the red light.)

It's a small town that has blossomed with tourism because of the beaches and surfing.

When I think of Costa Rica I think of nature, mountains, volcanos, tropical forests, diverse wildlife, beautiful coastline bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. 

Costa Rica has all those things.

Most people fly into San Jose, stay the night, and then head out to all the great outdoor places. 

But there is a little hidden gem in the overlooked capital of San Jose.
