LONDON: Home Sweet Home

We had the privilege to call London, England "home" from 2014 to 2016.

We LOVED living in London.

We were heartbroken when we left, but always planned to return.

Being back on "home turf", I got such joy one day setting out at 10am and not returning back until 5:30pm.

I walked over 19km (over 12 miles) and 22,567 steps. I came home exhausted but happy to be exploring old and new haunts.

A couple of my highlights:

Horse Guard Parade is always a favourite.

Canada Gate at Buckingham Palace

I love Trafalgar Square and watching the changes on the 4th plinth.

Yes, that is whipped cream, with a cherry on top, with a housefly and a drone. Any suggestions that can shed some light on the significance of this will be very welcomed.

Canada House at Trafalgar Square.

The National Gallery to the left and St Martin in the Fields church behind, also at Trafalgar Square. There are concerts in the church, and, performances in the crypt below. This year we saw a comedy performance in the crypt. Yes, that's right, a comedy show in the crypt! We also saw a "country music" performance in the crypt

Big Ben, sporting its recently cleaned face. Back in 2015 when we lived here we had the privilege of climbing the tower to get behind the clock face. (That was shut down to mere mortals after 911, but I managed to snag an invitation from our MP (Member of Parliament).)

This little gem was a new discovery for me. It is a peaceful little park behind Westminster (the Parliament Buildings) nestled beside the Thames. The sculpture is The Burghers of Calais by Rodin.

The Tate Britain is another favourite. All the art may not have been painted by British artists, but, were all painted in Britain.

This is just a teasing of all that London has to offer and a reminder of being back home again.

If you are very bored, and would like to read about a few of our adventures when we lived in London from 2014 to 2016 you can always take a look at my blog from "back in the day", aptly called "Living on an Island". Check it out here:
