ARGENTINA: Quebrada de Humahuaca World Heritage Site

The Serrania de Hornocal are a range of mountains that run from Salta Argentina, through Bolivia and into Peru.

The mountains reach an altitude of 4,761 metres. (For those of you that are metric challenged, that is 15,620 feet!)

The region Quebrada de Humahuaca was declared a World Heritage site in 2003 for both the colourful mountain landscape and the historic Inca caravan road running through the region.

SPOILER ALERT: More mountain pictures. A big screen will enhance your viewing pleasure.

Once again I am tongue tied to describe the beauty of the area.

It is stunning.

Parts are arid.

Other parts support vegetation.

Stunning rock colours and combinations.

One would have to be incredibly hardy to live in this beautiful part of the world.

I am in awe. In so many respects.

And so grateful we have had the opportunity to explore it.
