ALBANIA: Plan B is Life on the Albanian Riviera

Plan B was quickly hatched.

We were looking to tick the boxes: "relatively close" to Morocco, a warm climate on the Mediterranean, not a Schengen country, and, "close" to our next planned destination.

Sarande on the Albanian Riviera became our destination.

We scrambled to book flights and find accommodation.

As it turned out, it was an excellent choice!

John and I had both got sick at the end of our Moroccan tour. As a matter of fact, 12 of the 16 of us on the tour got sick. Where better to recuperate, relax and chill than on the Albanian Riviera looking out over the Mediterranean.

Our suspicions led us to believe we might have COVID. I went to the pharmacy to purchase a COVID Test kit and the pharmacist looked at me in horror, shrank further behind her protective plexi screen, and told me they didn't have any.

No worries, as we were just enjoying a quiet life on the Albanian Riviera.

We think we scored BIG TIME!

Some terrific sunset photos. I did not know Albania had a developed riviera. I almost got to Albania by mistake in the early 70's during in the Hoxha regime.

Thanks Gordon. The Albanian Riviera is developed, but, not overdeveloped. It is not a rich country, so I didn't see any 5* accommodation. But I am sure it will not stay that way for long as people discover the hidden gem. BTW - I am not sure I would have wanted to be there when Hoxha was in power.
