When she lived with us she was an 18-year-old teenager and we were, well, we were definitely well into adulthood.
Seventeen years later Nang is now an adult, and we are, well, we are even older adults.
So it was fun to get to know each other when we are all adults.
We spent one morning together doing some touristy Bangkok stuff.
Then we got to meet her family for the first time. We'd all seen photos of each other, and had all heard about each other, but, we had never met.
Language was a bit of a barrier at times, but, we all seemed to understand and appreciate the close connections we had through Nang. Many thanks to Nang's sister, Sasiphan for hosting us all at her beautiful home.
Another day we went grocery shopping so Nang could cook us a Thai meal.
We went to Bangkok's equivalent of Costco. This place was ginormous.
Nang graciously allowed me to pretend that I was her Sous Chef.
The end result was a delicious meal followed by some great conversation about "adult things" that we didn't talk about when she was 18.
We also did a touristy day trip to Ayutthaya.
We created more special memories.
In the world of social media, Nang posted this on her Instagram page. I am so humbled by her words.
I think someone must have been chopping onions when I read her post. It definitely touched my heart.

What a great reunion and especially meaningful to visit with Nang's family. We had a similar experience with visiting the family of a friend of Susan in Tianjin and showing us how to make dumplings. Wow what a moving message and the recognition of how you touched her life is so powerful and a testament to you both. I'm sure you had a tear or two, as I almost did.
Thanks Gordon. We felt very fortunate, and it sounds like you were too. Linda
