MONTENEGRO: Vineyards and Wine Tasting

Who knew Montenegro had a wine industry?

I certainly didn't.

There are over 100 registered wineries in Montenegro that produce over 50 types of wine!

This small country produces about 17 million liters of wine a year. About 30% is exported.

Wine is one of the most important agricultural products in Montenegro.

We went to Savena vineyards in Herceg Novi on the Kotor Bay for a wine tasting.

The mountains provide a beautiful backdrop for the vineyard in one direction.

With great views of the stunning Kotor Bay in the other direction.

Local wines I had never heard of before include Vranac, Kratošija, Krstač and Žižak.

These are local beverages that need to be drunk responsibility. They pack a strong punch.

Vineyard wine tastings always seem to make everything look so pretty.

Many thanks to Apple & John for trekking to Kotor to drink wine responsibly with us.

And to give us a social life.
