PORTUGAL: The Ups and Downs to the Hills in Porto

We thought the hills in Lisbon were tough, well, welcome to Porto, the second biggest city in Portugal, with, as far as I am concerned, much steeper hills.

We loved the old city with their narrow winding streets. But imagine carrying your groceries up this hill. To discover you forgot the olive oil? Aaaggghhh!

Can you imagine back-in-the-day hauling laundry to the public washing stations?
In the historic quarter the streets are like a maze and super narrow.

You're literally very close to your neighbours.

I guess the upside to the hills is if you are lost you just wind downhill and eventually you'll get to the bottom.

Not quite so easy going uphill though.

There is no disputing there are amazing views from the top,

and an excuse to take a break at the end of the day and enjoy a beverage (or two).
