Everyone knows about the changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace.
Hence, the crowds of tourists flock there every morning to catch a glimpse of the pomp and pageantry. And "catch a glimpse" is pretty much all you get with all the people. (Tourists can be so annoying!)
But, a much lesser known place to view the changing of the guards is at Horse Guards Parade.
I always get excited watching them come down The Mall to the Parade Grounds.
The change-over happens on the parade grounds.
There are not as many people at Horse Guards Parade so you don't have to jostle and crane your neck as much.
And you can get really close.
For background on the ceremony and more photos check out an earlier post about Horse Guards Parade that I did when we lived in London, in my previous blog, "Living on an Island".
