The Next Leg of the Journey

We have been in London and the UK from June 15th to September 1st. The time has gone very quickly.

London is a city with so many things to do and see. There is the old history, the streets and buildings that have stood the test of time and seen many feet walk their cobblestones and pass by their doors.

There are the old traditions that continue to fascinate visitors from around the world.

But it is also a city that is current, relevant and vibrant. There are new buildings that fill the cityscape and new traditions being started. Some will endure over time, and some will just be a passing fancy.

The combination of new juxtaposed with old is fascinating.

We have also had the opportunity to enjoy country walks outside London.

But it is time now to say "see you later" to London and the UK.

John will start a new journey in Spain walking the Camino de Santiago with a group of guys he's known for years. He's been planning this trip since 2015 and it was supposed to be in September of 2020. But then COVID happened, and we all know what that did to everybody's travel plans. So now 2 years later they will begin their trek in Santander and walk 500km over 30 days to end in Santiago.

I will go to Italy to meet my sister and girlfriends. Our plan is to see ancient historical sites and cities, see art masterpieces, enjoy walking, hiking and biking the coastline, take a boat trip or two, sip a little prosecco, limoncello, wine and sambuca, enjoy pasta, tiramisu and other Italian delicacies.

And then John and I will meet up again in the beginning of October with new stories to share with each other.
