There are so many beautiful islands along Croatia's coast.
It is easy to understand why the Dalmatian Coast is on so many people's Bucket List.
Because of all the islands the water is protected and very calm.
There are also a lot of sheltered coves.
The water is crystal clear and a beautiful blue.
Set against blue skies and mountains the coast is very beautiful.
The islands have cute little villages.
Remnants of old fortresses.
Lookout sites, remnants from wars.
Scenic stops to contemplate life.
Or enjoy a picnic.
The area has a Mediterranean climate and is dry and sunny.
There are olive trees and grape vines. We found a cute little Olive Oil Museum.
Our timing was perfect to spontaneously join a tour and then an olive oil tasting.
While we were there a film crew was setting up for filming. (If it was a Rick Steeves group you might as well forget about that quaint little secret.)
It was the end of October and there were still some brave souls swimming. I am not that hardy.
I know, I know, everyone says to me "You're from Canada. You should love cold water." NOT!
Some of the islands you can get to by bridge others you need to take a boat or ferry.
P.S.
As a postscript, I do need to show one of our ferry rides and give kudos to John, also known as the "Parking God" and "The Reverse King". (I openly admit I am "Parking Challenged" and NOT the "Reverse Queen")
There is only one ramp on and off the ferry. This isn't a drive through ferry.
By the way everyone is standing around looking I think I was not the only one going WTF! OMG!
On closer inspection I realized this is not the Captain's first rodeo. They load the first cars on driving forward. Then near the end they have the last people back into their spot. (Another GASP escapes from me. "Reverse into a parking spot?! GASP!!!!")
Then when they land the last people on become the first people off, so now they drive forward. As the boat unloads it gets easier and the remaining cars can reverse and turn around to then drive straight off the boat.
John is my Hero! I would have had heart failure.

The islands were really nice. Several people have mentioned that sailing along the Dalmation Coast would be really beautiful - I hope to give that a try one of these days.
