IRELAND: Driving the Countryside Highways

I will admit that I am parking challenged.

Not always, but sometimes.

Driving forward is rarely a problem.

However.....

"Highways" in Ireland, and also in Europe, are not always as big as I am used to in North America.

There are times when I just have to close my eyes, hold my breath and hope for the best.

That is when John is driving.

I expect that country roads are generally smaller and have lower speed limits.

I'm not surprised to see farm equipment on country roads.

I don't generally see dogs in ATV's on "highways"

I don't expect to see cattle crossing the "highway".

When I think of "highways" I assume you can go reasonably fast
and not have to worry about oncoming traffic in your lane.

I guess it is the definition of "highway" that is different.

A single lane bridge with traffic control. This is good.

A single lane tunnel, with no traffic control. Not so good.

Two wheeled traffic that needs to be considered.

All I can say is, I just hope that John does not close his eyes, hold his breath
and hope for the best when HE is driving on the narrow windy country "highways".

“That is when John is driving.” Fell out of my chair laughing.
