LONDON: Festive December Lights

One of the reasons we came to London in December was to enjoy the long, hot, sun-filled days that are cooled by gentle warm breezes coming off the water.

Ummmm..... NOT!

It had more to do with a need to reintegrate into society. After spending so much time with just the two of us, we suspected that our social skills might have become a bit rusty. We figured that it would be good for us to get together with friends to practise social etiquette again.

It also had to do with the fact that London puts on a great show in December.

Regent Street has a huge wide boulevard with angels enticing people to come out and enjoy the season.

Bond Street is another brightly festive street.

Carnaby in SOHO has more of a bohemian vibe.

St Martin's Lane is one of the streets full of some of the many theatres in London.

The fabulous streets filled with decorative lights are endless.

Maybe all these beautiful decorations will get John in the mood for Christmas shopping.....

But then again, we don't have any closets to store things in, so Christmas for us will NOT be about shopping.

Maybe I could buy a closet cheap at a Boxing Day sale!

In 2014 we had a family Christmas in London and rented in Fulham. The Christmas lights are always spectacular, and we attended a concert at the Albert Hall and had afternoon tea at Fortnum's. Earlier in 2014 I went to the Monty Python Live (Mostly) concert at the O2 arena. The old Shell Mex building is next to the Savoy, and I had always wanted to stay there so I had one night in the Churchill suite with a butler and Rolls taxi within 2-mile radius. I still have the knotted handkerchief but didn't wear it in the Savoy.

WOW! More great memories. You were really putting on the Ritz - oooops, I mean the Savoy. Sounds like a great pampering experience. LINDA
