BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA: Street Art in Mostar

Since 2012 Mostar has had its own street art festival.

It is organized by a group of local young activists and its aim is to bring new artists and art to the streets of the post-war city.

Like other street artists around the world, they also want to redefine the city's public spaces and revitalize abandoned buildings.

The art brings whimsy to a city that has seen a lot of recent turbulence.

The festival focuses mostly on artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries but international creators are invited too.

You can find murals throughout the city.

Some are use ruins as their canvas.

Some are political statements.

If you look closely you can see that people live in this building.

Look at these closely as well and you can see barb wire at the top of the canvas.

Because this is a prison wall.

We stumbled into this artist in his production phase.

A couple days later we found him still hard at work with new parts completed.

My Artistic Skills rank up there with my Parking Skills.

Banksy has no need to worry.
