It rarely snows and the rest of Canada jokes that it is Canada's Banana Belt.
Because it has such mild (Canadian) winters it is the home for many Canadian retirees.
That puts it on the list of possible locations for John and me when we decide we want to "Adult It" again.
So we figured since we were in Canada in November/December, why not check out Victoria in the winter.
We woke up one morning and had to ask ourselves "What happened!?!?!?!"
The harbour had "frozen water" (which could also be called "ice") forming on the surface.
Snow on the boats?
A playful addition to the harbour.
Some whimsical souls built a snowman on the legislature grounds. Not wanting to get political, there are a whole bunch of cheap shots that could be taken about the snowman and the inhabitants inside the legislature building. But I'll take the highroad and refrain.
Speaking of frozen water, the sign may be a bit redundant.
The double decker open air sight-seeing bus won't be going anywhere soon.
These cars also won't be going anywhere without a bit of work first.
Living in Houston for so many years and not having to deal with snow, this Canadian boy is having flashbacks to his misspent youth.
Someone in snowshoes is well prepared and taking the dump of snowfall seriously.
Without any boots, I am wishing I had any kind of snow footwear.
I don't think he figured he'd have to shovel his boat, but it looks like he was a boy scout and prepared with a shovel and brush.
John is waiting for his ice cold beer in a frosty mug, which takes on a whole new meaning today.
I'm thinking that this poor guy got "ghosted".
This statue, of a sailor coming home to his daughter is one of my favourites. The pure joy on each of their faces is endearing. With the snow it makes it so much more poignant.
Fisherman's Wharf, Mexican seafood, cactus, reindeer, snow...
.... enjoyed al fresco in an igloo.
The sea planes in the harbour are probably the most reliable form of transport right now.
The fresh snow is very pretty and peaceful. But in Victoria!?!?!?
